Apple's new Vision Pro has taken over the tech world in Q1 of 2024.
The headset allows users to interact both in AR/VR interfaces and has already presented a wide variety of use cases. To build an app in the spatial computing platform and publish to visionOS, you can take advantage of a variety of existing frameworks, including SwiftUI and RealityKit.
SwiftUI is a framework that has allowed developers to build apps across Apple platforms since 2019. In the latest upgrades, you can overlay 3D models overtop the real world and accept input from the Vision Pro camera to track user movements and then dynamically adjust those 3D models. This allows users to experience an immersive virtual reality and interact seamlessly with the designed digital world.
RealityKit takes this a step further and allows developers to build high-performance 3D simulations and render those virtual simulations in the real world. RealityKit uses its front cameras to transmit a 3D video feed of the world around you. This allows users to be immersed in both virtual simulations and their surrounding reality.
Apple has ambitious plans for the Vision Pro, hoping to build a computer that works within the world around you.
